Design is acknowledged to contribute to economic growth, delivering a clear added value to companies. Design Vlaanderen helps companies make design an integral part of their strategy of differentiation. Design does makes a difference/design maakt het verschil.

In a one-day workshop, three business managers and their designers provide testimony of successful collaboration. Joannes Vandermeulen and Kristel Van Ael of Namahn conclude the workshop by discussing 'Grand theories and best practices in user-centered design'.

The workshop takes place in Brussels and will be in Dutch. The remainder of this announcement is therefore in Dutch.

In this presentation, Erik Hollnagel will describe a single principle for human performance that can be used to understand both why things go right and why they sometimes go wrong. The principle reflects the common trait that people in their work naturally adjust what they do to match the conditions – what has happened, what happens, and what may happen.

The last SIGCHI.be event of 2008, on Thursday 11 December at CUO, Mediacentrum K.U.Leuven. SIGCHI offers a nice mix of presentations for you, from both sides of the language border, including an academic view on invisible interfaces from the LUCID lab of the Université de Liège, and a practitioner's view on measuring KPI's in information architecture.

Everybody knows Wikipedia and a lot of people know what a wiki is. Adoption of wikis within a professional context is on the rise, even in Belgium. Wikis are for instance used at Belgacom, Dexia and even in the Belgian Army. On Thursday November 27, 2008 a first WikiPodium meeting will take place, hosted by Namahn.
