Johan Van Maldeghem

Specialises in: UX research & design, design systems

Johan is a senior designer at Namahn. In his 25+ years at the company, he has built extensive experience in interaction design, service design, information architecture and technical communication, allowing him to always design with the overall user experience in mind.

The main focus in Johan’s work at Namahn lies in interaction design projects both for desktop, web and mobile applications in a large variety of domains: Finance (BNP Paribas, KBC, Worldline), Medical (Agfa-Gevaert, Siemens), Media (VRT, Ancienne Belgique), Technology (IBM, Sony), Telecom (Telenet, Proximus), Aviation (EUROCONTROL, swITch) and Government (Belgian Federal government, European Commission). Thanks to this wide variety in experience, Johan has learned to focus on the patterns and principles that create flow for the user, no matter what domain or context they are in.

Through the years, Johan has also played an important role in shaping and refining Namahn’s interaction design methodology, and has trained and coached numerous students and colleagues in this domain.

In recent years, he has focused on the transition from desktop to web applications, and building design systems that integrate well in the agile development process of large organisations.

Work aside, you’ll find Johan making music, travelling, reading, running, and spending time with family and friends.
